How to Apply
Maryland-in-Shangahi students enroll at Fudan University, the leading university in Shanghai and one of the top universities in China. Founded in 1905, Fudan today enrolls 25,000 full-time degree candidates - including 4,500 international students - and 11,000 students in the schools of continuing education and in distance learning programs. The university consults with high-tech industries to ensure that courses present the latest technical innovations together with current academic theory. In recent years, the university attracted some of the best talent and maintains its place among the most respected institutions in China.
The Fudan campus, like the city of Shanghai itself, combines the best of contemporary and traditional China. Its modern towers complement beautiful Chinese gardens and provide a stimulating and contemplative environment for learning.
A Snapshot of Shanghai
Shanghai is China’s largest city, with a population of 18.7 million. Although it is now home to more skyscrapers than Manhattan, Shanghai still honors its traditions.
The Huangpu divides the city into two distinct regions. On the east bank, Pudong, with its unforgettable skyline, is home to Shanghai’s financial services district and thousands of Chinese and multinational corporations. On the west bank, Puxi, with its famous Bund and 19th and early 20th Century European-style buildings, features Shanghai’s historic neighborhoods, shopping districts, and university campuses.
