The UM Study Abroad Office and Laurie Koehler, Resident Director, hold two separate Orientation sessions to help students learn about the Maryland-in-London program and living in the city itself.
Pre-Departure Orientation
All UMCP students on the Maryland-in-London program will be required to attend a brief pre-departure orientation session at the University of Maryland.

Study Abroad Coordinators and Advisors will outline the basics of Maryland and London Met courses during this orientation. Students will also learn how to make the most of their London experience by getting involved outside of the UM program. Maryland-in-London student alumni will also be in attendance, to share their own experiences and advice on studying abroad.
On-Site Orientation
When students arrive in London, they will participate in a week-long on-site orientation. Organized by the Resident Director, the orientation will be a detailed look at the Maryland-in-London program.
All students are required to attend the orientation, as the Resident Director will distribute important practical information about living in London. Some of the topics covered include:
