Pre-Departure Orientation

All University of Maryland students who have been accepted in to a study abroad program are required to attend a pre-departure orientation. This orientation will be geared either to your specific program (for Maryland-administered or sponsored programs) and/or to living and studying abroad in general (for programs recognized by Maryland but without direct sponsorship or agreement).

Topics covered during orientation include in-country transportation, safety, money, support services, academics, etc. These are invaluable sessions which will give you the insights to living and studying overseas. For orientation dates, times, and locations, please see below:

Maryland- Administered and Sponsored Semester and Year Programs:
- Visit your program page, click on "Orientation"
- The UM Study Abroad staff will notify you after acceptance of the date, time, and location of your orientation

Maryland Faculty Led Winter Programs (choose one to attend):
Monday, December 1 (0131 Armory)
Tuesday, December 2 (0126 Armory)
4.30-6.00p.m.
Each program will also have an orientation with the faculty director of that program

All other Programs (choose one to attend):
Monday, December 8 (0131 Armory)
Tuesday, December 9 (0126 Armory)
4.30-6.00p
