Welcome Back Reception

Just returned from a summer short term or spring semester study abroad program? Join the Study Abroad Office for the annual Welcome Back Reception. It will take place on September 2 from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. in the Banneker Room in the Stamp Student Union. Featuring guest speakers, information on getting involved overseas, and time for you to share your experiences abroad, the event is a perfect time for you to meet other study abroad alumni like yourself. Welcome back! We hope that you had a wonderful time while abroad and that you are excited to share your experience with other students on Maryland's campus.

We recognize that it can often be difficult to return to campus after a semester or year overseas, so we've designed this portion of our website with you in mind. Here, you will find information about how to share your thoughts and stories, how to request your study abroad transcript, how to deal with the effects of reverse culture shock, how to stay involved with study abroad, and how to plan your next international adventure!

Applying Study Abroad to your Future

Many returning students have found that their international experience has aided in their search for a job after graduation. The Career Center is interested in working with you to find a job that utilizes your international experience. Please see the UCC website for further information. Don't forget to include your international experience when registering your Careers4TERPS Profile!

Staying Connected

You can also visit and join the UM International Programs Forum to join a growing network of internationally minded University of Maryland students. The Forum is an interface for student-to-student discussions on study abroad programs, events and activities, connections for postings for housing in CP and other practical items related to spending time abroad for current and future study abroad, MEI and international students.

To join, visit the UM International Programs Forum site and select Login/Join. You will be prompted to create a username and password.
