Accommodations

Students on the Maryland-in-Alcalá program have two options for housing during their semester abroad.

Homestay

Alcalingua can arrange for interested students to live with a Spanish family during their semester abroad. Past participants agree that a homestay presents a wonderful opportunity to practice Spanish outside of the classroom.  Students staying in homestays are provided with two or three meals a day, in addition to lodging. Homestays are usually located a short walk or bus ride away from the university.

University Residences

Students on the Maryland-in-Alcalá program can also opt to live in the university residences with Spanish and other international students.  Bed linens are provided.  Students who opt for the residence will be placed in a single or double room, and are responsible for purchasing and preparing their own meals.  The residences are located apprximately 15 minutes by bus from downtown Alcalá.

Housing Costs

Housing costs are not included in the Maryland-in-Alcalá program fee. Students are responsible for paying their rent and board costs directly to the residencias, landlord or homestay family. For more information about housing costs, please see the Dates & Fees page.
