Internship Options
Students can find an exciting internship in virtually any field of interest, and an internship doesn’t necessarily have to be done in your individual major. For information on the types of placements available, visit the
Foundation for International Education (FIE) website.
There are three internship options available for students, as highlighted below:
Option #1 - EDCP 386: Students may participate in a work placement two days/week and complete an accompanying work placement course through
FIE. Students taking the EDCP386 course option will receive a grade upon completion of their work placement that will affect their GPA. Students will receive 3 credits for their successful completion of the EDCP 386 work placement.
For this option, students will pay an
additional fee of $995Option #2: Students may participate in a work placement two days/week and complete an accompanying work placement course at London Metropolitan University. For this component, students will receive 3 academic credits from the appropriate department or college and the work placement must be taken within a student's major course of study. A grade will be assigned to this course.
*Please note: Students must confirm that their department will give credit for the internship option. For this option, students will pay an

FIE will not receive credit and will be graded Pass/Fail, so it will not affect your University of Maryland GPA. Instead of credit, a credit marker and notation will be made upon satisfactory completion of the internship, so that it is seen on the student's transcript that you participated in an internship abroad.
For this option, students will pay an
additional fee of $995Academics and Finances
