Engineering in Germany

Eligibility

This program is open to Engineering students.  Applications from students in computer science may be considered on a space available basis.  You do not need to know German to participate.

Course Description

By the end of this class, students will have:

  • learned and practiced German phrases
  • developed an basic understanding of German culture, history, and industry, particularly as it pertains to engineering
  • experienced the classroom environment at an engineering school

The program will be of interest for students considering the dual degree Engineering and German program.  Other students may find the program valuable for learning about engineering in Germany. 

Academic evaluation and grading will be based on attendance, preparedness and participation, oral presentation and group discussion of selected readings, journal entries (guidelines provided by instructors), and a final exam based on readings, lectures and site visits.

Credits

Enrolled students will receive 1 Maryland resident credit for ENES 458/GERM499E – Engineering in Germany
