Study Abroad Fee to go into effect January 2009
Starting in January 2009, students who enroll in non-UM programs for semester study abroad will be charged a $400 fee. Students who enroll in exchange programs for study abroad or in non-UM programs for Winter Term or Summer will be charged a $250 fee per program. This charge will appear directly on student accounts. Students who attend Maryland sponsored semester programs and short term programs currently pay a study abroad fee as part of the overall program cost so no additional charge will appear on their account. 

Permission to Study Abroad forms Due May 13!
If you are going abroad on a non-University of Maryland study abroad program, don't forget to turn in your Permission to Study Abroad (PSA) forms by the last day of classes, Tuesday, May 13! Our office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 - 4:30, so please turn in your PSA as soon as possible.

Summer Study Abroad Pre-Departure Orientations
If you are spending your summer on a UM short term study abroad program, please remember that our mandatory pre-departure orientations will take place on May 5 and May 6 from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. in 0135 Armory. You only need to attend one session, so choose which day you would like to attend. These orientations are separate from any program-specific orientation that your Faculty Director might have scheduled.

Deadline Extended for UM's Semester Programs in London, Berlin and Denmark!
Want to spend a semester in Europe? Then you're in luck - our fall semester deadlines have been extended! Visit our Semester Programs Website for the updated deadlines and to apply. But hurry, as the programs are filling up quickly!

Apply for Maryland-in-London!
Have you considered studying in London, one of the most cosmopolitan hubs of Europe? If so, the Maryland-in-London program might be perfect for you! Not only will you take classes alongside locals, but you also have the chance to intern with British businesses and organizations - perfect for any resume. If you're interested, visit the Maryland-in-London website to apply by April 18!

Apply for Maryland-in-Berlin!
Spend a semester in Berlin, the capital city of Germany - and you don't even need to know German to participate! You will take classes with local students at the Free University of Berlin, one of the premier institutions in Germany. Also, our Maryland Resident Director will lead a number of outings during the semester. If you're interested, visit the Maryland-in-Berlin page to apply by April 18!

Maryland-in-London Information Session - Tuesday, April 8
Join Study Abroad staff and alumni for tea and crumpets on April 8 from 4 – 5 p.m. in 1108 Holzapfel Hall. This brief information session will discuss the Maryland-in-London Fall 2008 program. We will answer questions about housing, academics, internships and what it’s like to live in London for a semester! Also, meet other students who have either been accepted to the program or are considering applying. Questions? Contact the Study Abroad Office.

Want to spend a semester in the metropolis of Sydney, the eclectic city of Melbourne, or countless other locations in Australia? Then come to our info session on Thursday, February 28 from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. in 0140 Holzapfel Hall. We'll tell you about our Maryland-in-Australia program, our affiliation with Study Australia and the RMIT exchange option. Hope to see you there!

Spend a semester or year in Nice - come to our Info Session for more
Improve your French, live on the Mediterranean coast, and participate in an optional homestay on our Maryland-in-Nice program. Joins us on Thursday, February 28 from 4 - 5 p.m. in 2206 Jimenez Hall to learn more. You'll also have the chance to meet the Nice Resident Director and ask questions about academics, housing, financial aid, and more!

Students, join our UM International Programs Forum! Featuring study abroad discussion boards, virtual chats with study abroad advisors, and more, the Forum is a great way to get your questions answered and connect with other study abroad students.

Students: PSAs are due TODAY!
Have you been accepted into a non-UM winter or spring study abroad program? Remember to complete your Permission to Study Abroad form with our office! PSA are due today, Tuesday, December 11.

MANDATORY Non-UM Pre-Departure Orientation
If you are going abroad this spring on a non-University of Maryland program, you must attend one of our pre-departure orientations. They are scheduled for Monday, December 10 and Tuesday, December 11, and you may choose which one you wish to attend. Both orientations will be held from 4:30 - 6 p.m. in 0126 Armory

At noon today, Tuesday, December 11, listen to the Terp Weekly Edition on WMUC 88.1 FM to hear Maryland study abroad students discuss their experiences in Europe and the impact of the European Union on the world.
