Office of International Programs (OIP).

The University of Maryland is truly a global campus, which places a high value on its worldwide reach and impact. UM's formal partnerships with universities and governments overseas now number more than 250; its faculty hail from over 130 countries; it is consistently named among the top 25 universities welcoming international students; and its President's Promise initiative strives to provide an international experience - whether via study abroad, an overseas internship, international service learning, or a campus-based intercultural learning program - for every UM student.

OIP's mission is to enhance the international activities and character of UM, by acting as the interface for students and faculty going abroad/coming to College Park; encouraging, advising, assisting, and coordinating the international components of UM academic units, programs and initiatives; offering travel & study abroad course development grants and awards for outstanding international achievement; and organizing programming to internationalize the outlook of UM students, faculty and staff, to ultimately bring the resources of UM to the world.

UM Study Abroad Ranks Highest Ever
In the Open Doors 2009 Findings, UM earned its highest ranking ever - #25 for total number of study abroad students from doctorate institutions, and the short term programs were ranked #19. Visit UM Study Abroad for more on their programs across the globe!
