Special Programs

The Office of International Programs hosts and co-sponsors special programs and events that bring international perspectives to campus or that assist our faculty and students in building bridges with international colleagues.

A recent addition is our conversation series, Strategies to Survive the 21st Century. This forum features internationally prominent members of the UM family, the DC area, and other select visitors who share their thoughts on issues that confront contemporary society.

Every semester, our Ambassadorial Lecture Series brings global leaders to speak about vital challenges and opportunities in international cooperation and economic development.

The popular International Film Series, co-hosted by the Hoff Theater, the School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, the College of Arts and Humanities, and the Office of International Programs presents some of the best recent international films for free at the University’s Hoff Theater.

The Washington Fulbright Enrichment program, housed at UM’s Office of International Programs, provides visiting Fulbrighters at institutions in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. with opportunities to meet and share experiences with their Fulbright colleagues.

The Faculty Grants Program supports international activities and travel costs for full-time tenured, tenure-track, or permanent faculty. Applications may be submitted for consideration bi-annually (deadlines are April 15 and November 15).
