How to Apply
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
In order to be admitted to the MEI full-time intensive English program, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a non-native speaker of English
- You must be 18 years old or older
- You must be a high school graduate
If you are a transfer student, you must also meet the following criteria:
- You must be in good academic standing with the program you are seeking to transfer from
- Your must have met the attendance requirements of the program you are seeking to transfer from
- You must not have violated the student code of conduct of the program you are seeking to transfer from
FOR SUMMER 2008 SESSION (June 17 - August 1, 2008)
If you are already in the US and are a citizen or permanent resident, we can accept your application at any time through June 13
If you already in the US and need to transfer your I - 20, we should receive your application by June 2 in order to process your transfer
If you are applying from another country, we should receive your application by May 2
FOR FALL 2008 SESSION (September 03 - December 12, 2008)
If you are already in the US and are a citizen or permanent resident, we can accept your application at any time through August 29
If you already in the US and need to transfer your I - 20, we should receive your application by August 15 in order to process your transfer
If you are applying from another country, we should receive your application by August 01
FOR SPRING 2009 SESSION (January 14 - May 01, 2009)
If you are already in the US and are a citizen or permanent resident, we can accept your application at any time through January 09
If you already in the US and need to transfer your I - 20, we should receive your application by December 12, 2008, in order to process your transfer
If you are applying from another country, we should receive your application by December 01, 2008
MEI Application Form
All individuals seeking admission to the Maryland English Institute must complete this form.
(Note: Applying to the Maryland English Institute is not the same as applying for admission to a degree program. Those interested in applying to a degree program at the University of Maryland College Park must submit a separate application directly to the University. I-134 Affidavit of Support Form
For applicants who have a private financial sponsor who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, this form must be filled out, notarized, and submitted by the sponsor. See page four of the MEI Application Form for additional information.
MEI Transfer Form
This form must be completed by F-1 and J-1 applicants currently residing in the United States who do not intend to depart the U.S. prior to the beginning of their program of study at MEI. This form is necessary for issuing a transfer I-20. Please submit the original transfer form with the MEI application form. MEI only accepts transfer students who are in good academic standing, who have met the attendance requirements and who have not violated the student code of conduct of the program from which they wish to transfer.
