General Teaching Abroad

International Schools Services
ISS is a recruiting agency for American international schools for students of expatriate families, diplomats and government employees for K-12. Maintains a database of candidates and sponsors several recruitment fairs. Paid positions- some offer living stipends, health insurance or retirement benefits. Typically 2 year contracts. Most candidates need to be teaching certified. Small application fee but no placement or program fees beyond that.

Department of Defense Education Activity
Hires elementary and secondary school teachers on military bases. Also offers unpaid jobs for student teachers.

Teaching English Abroad General Programs & Resources

Alliance Abroad Group
Teaching, volunteer and work abroad programs available. Teaching programs in China, Spain, Chile or Argentina. Program fees range from $1,000 +. Compensation varies on program location and length.

BridgeLinguatec
Program that offers TEFL training and certification. Upon completion of course, job placement available in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Asia Europe or other Latin American countries. CCET accredited. Volunteer positions also available.

CIEE Teach Abroad
Teach Abroad programs in Chile, China, Spain and Thailand. Participants teach between 16 and 22 English classes per week in grade schools and some Universities. Application fee plus program fee covers placement in paid position, week-long orientation on site (TEFL courses, sightseeing, transportation from orientation- to host institution), insurance, pre=departure planning, handbook, esl teaching guide, visa assistance, accommodations. Monetary compensation

Cultural Embrace
Programs in Latin America, Europe, Asia and the UK with guaranteed teaching placement that is typically paid- other compensation may be available. TEFL course, intl insurance, orientation is included in program fee. Programs vary from 1 month- 1 year.

Teach English in China, Indonesia or Russia with the world’s largest private education company

ITC- International TEFL Certificate
TEFL training program abroad for 4 weeks. Program fee includes, TEFL certificate, employment assistance, training, some sites provide accommodation

Language Corps
Programs in Asia, Latin America, Europe and Africa. Program fees include TESOL training and certification, guaranteed placement into a paid EFL teaching position. Local language training, and comprehensive support services. Programs are usually 10-12 months in length though there are some summer programs

Overseas Service Corps of the YMCA

Princeton-in-Asia
One year paid teaching placements in Asia. Small contribution fee to cover placement, pre-departure advising, housing placement or assistance. Applicants are required to get TESOL certification and attend interview in NJ in January. Bachelor's degree required.
