How to Register

Thank you for your interest in the Confucius Institute. To register for a course with us, please begin by browsing through our course listings and selecting the class that is right for you. All courses at present are non-credit. All courses are taught at the University of Maryland, College Park, unless otherwise specified. If you have questions about selecting a course, please email us and we will be happy to assist you.

If you know which course you are interested in, you can fill out a Confucius Institute at Maryland registration form and send it to us via email or fax it to 301.405.1407.

Course Schedules

Many Chinese language courses are 10 weeks long, but the number of hours vary based on the intensity of the course. Courses will be taught throughout the year and are not necessarily based on the University's academic schedule.

Tuition costs

Course fees are based on the number of hours the course is taught and whether there is more personalized instruction given (such as in our one-on-one or customized courses). Course fees are listed with the registration form. Our arts and culture courses may also include a small fee for supplies.

Payment for courses can be made in the form of check or money order (made payable to University of Maryland) and must be received no later than the first day of class.

Course Policies

If for any reason you cannot attend the course for which you have registered, you must submit a cancellation form before the first day of class to receive a full refund. After the first class, you may submit a withdrawl form and receive a 50% refund. No refunds are given after the second class meeting.Click here to see the withdrawal and refund policy.
